Behold Our Great God

In this sermon, Keith Miller walks through Revelation 1:1–8 and reminds us that the book of Revelation is not given to confuse or frighten God’s people, but to unveil Jesus Christ in all His glory. John writes to pressured churches facing compromise, exclusion, and opposition, assuring them that grace and peace come from the triune God: the Father who is, who was, and who is to come; the fullness of the Holy Spirit; and Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

This passage calls us to behold the blessing, behold our triune God, and behold the coming King. Jesus loves us, has freed us from our sins by His blood, and has made us a kingdom of priests. Because He reigns now and is coming again, God’s people can hold fast, endure pressure, anchor their hope in Christ, and resist compromise.
